Artwork Guidelines

Custom Printing Requirements

If we design your materials, we'll take care of all the artwork requirements for you.

If you choose to print artwork that you, or your designer, have already developed, we want to ensure that your materials come out the best that they can be. Please consult with us prior to sending us your artwork so we can advise you of the requirements for that particular print job. Below are the general guidelines.

Please submit your files in CMYK format, except for 1 and 2-color letterhead and envelopes. Any files not submitted in CMYK format may color shift when processed, so please keep this in mind if you are converting RGB to CMYK or PMS (Pantone Colors) to CMYK color modes.

We require a minimum resolution of 300 DPI for all raster art and images. Artwork, designs and images submitted with a lower resolution than 300 DPI may not print as sharply and cleanly.

For most printing jobs, we require a ¼" bleed, even if your artwork includes an outside white border. Please ensure that all items, except for background images, be at least 1/8" from the trim line. Any text or graphics falling closer than 1/8" to the trim line run the risk of being cut off.

If our trade printers reject your submitted artwork for problematic issues, we will advise you so that you, or your designer, can correct them. If you ask us to rectify the artwork for you, we'll give you a quote on the design costs. Please note that there is a small fee to re-submit artwork a second time.

We are happy to e-mail the appropriate templates for your use to ensure that your artwork is developed correctly.

We can also e-mail tutorials on how to save your files to a PDF format for the following software programs:

Microsft Publisher, CorelDraw, Pagemaker, QuarkExpress, Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.

Acceptable File Formats for Most Promotional Products

Black and white: Vector-based CAMERA READY art at 300⁺ dpi.
Colors: Color-separated Vector-based CAMERA READY art at 300⁺ dpi.
All colors at 100%.

All fonts should be converted to outlines, curves, or paths.

Please use one of the following programs:
Adobe Illustrator - 9.0 or lower
CorelDraw - 8.0 or lower
Freehand - 8.0 or lower

For embroidered products: We require digitized files in Tajima format with color sequencing.

For file compression: Please use Stuffit or Zip.

Unacceptable File Formats:
Gif or jpeg files, page layout files such as Quark or Pagemaker, word processing documents such as MS Word/PowerPoint, photocopies, or printer copies.
